Face Rejuvenation on a GO

As we grow older many of us become unhappy with our appearance thanks to the signs of aging. Aging is particularly visible in the face, where wrinkles appear, the fullness in the cheeks can start to disappear and jowl lines can develop.

Today the level of cosmetic treatment available is incredibly advanced, and there are number of non-surgical procedures that can dramatically reduce the signs of aging.

Quite often we are getting three questions in our clinic:

  • What the most popular dermal fillers?
  • What are the pros and cons of the dermal fillers available on the market today?
  • What is the difference between Cosmetic Anti-wrinkle Injections and Dermal fillers?

Radiesse, Injectable Gel and dermal implants, known collectively as dermal fillers, are used to reduce signs of aging on the face. Note: due to restrictions from the TGA, the actual full name of some the anti-wrinkle injection cannot be used here.

There are two types of wrinkles:

  1. Static wrinkles. When your face is at rest. They are often visible in the nasolabial fold. Dermal fillers injections can be used to correct static wrinkles.
  2. Dynamic wrinkles. Dynamic wrinkles occur when you use your facial muscles to smile or frown. Crow’s feet are a good example of dynamic wrinkles. For dynamic wrinkles anti-wrinkle injections are the treatment of choice.

As we grow older wrinkles, sags and lines begin to emerge. Many men and women want a more youthful appearance and look for ways to reduce the signs of aging that they see on their faces.

Surgery is one way to address these issues. Surgery cost is generally higher than minimally invasive options, may have a long recovery time and includes the risks of general anaesthesia.

Dermal filler injections offer are a minimally invasive method to reduce the signs of aging as well as used for treating lips, smile lines, cheeks, under eyes (to reduce dark circles and hollowness), corners of the mouth, nose, chin, jaw-line (jowls), scars

What is the best dermal filler?

The answer is “the one that’s most suitable to meeting your aesthetic goals". Every person needs to be examined and their needs, goals and budget discussed before any recommendation can be made.

Also you need to understand side effects and cost which is a function of the number of areas treated and the extent of treatment required.

Not only can permanent filler be used in the traditional role of a filler (i.e. injections for wrinkles or folds), but because of its permanence, it can also be used for soft tissue augmentation e.g. as a chin or cheek implant or for lip enhancement. It is also used to lift depressed acne scars.
